Stop watching Television.

 

Stop watching what? Before you jump the gun, let me explain.

 

We all know that TV is the American way of life. An American pastime. An ICON! I mean, what would we do without 24 hour news programs, re-runs of Gilligan's Island, Sponge Bob and Who Wants to be a Millionaire? Not to mention being strafed with hundreds of video images per second streaming across the TV during any one of dozens of MTV videos. No, we can't do without that. We can't.

 

But, how about eliminating SOME of it.

 

Try this: Just one day a week, don't watch TV. Don't even turn it on. Don't watch anything. You pick the day. Don't turn it on, not even for 5 minutes.

 

Give it a shot. Since the average American, according to a recent survey by the Nielson Company, watches about 8 hours of TV a day just think what you could accomplish in a day with no TV?

 

While you are gaining a "slight edge" everyone else will be watching TV. Enough said on that.
